Charges Filed Against Michael Jackson’s DoctorPosted: February 8, 2010
Today in Los Angeles charges were presented against Michael Jackson’s doctor. Charges of involuntary manslaughter by Dr. Conrad Murray, a cardiologist who had acted “unlawfully and without malice” in bringing about Mr. Jackson by administrating a powerful sedative in order to help Mr. Jackson sleep.
This form of medicine, which is used as a form of sedation, depresses breathing and the heart rate. According to an article by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, who had warned in 2004, “hat a doctor using propofol should have education and training to manage anesthesia complications, be physically present throughout sedation and monitor patients without interruption for signs of trouble. Rescue equipment “must be immediately available,” the report had said. After having reviewed the toxicology finding, the coroner ruled Mr. Jackson’s death a homicide.
At a time in which the medical profession is being disrespected by the efforts of the President Barak Obama to try to take over one seventh of our nation’s economy, what Dr. Murray did was not only wrong in both the legal and moral sense, it gives most doctors in this country a black eye.
