More Fallout From The Wikileaks Documents Dump

More damaging effects from the most recent “dumping of documents” from Wikileaks is being felt all the more. First, this will all the more, put our American military service people at greater risk to lose their lives. Also this will decrease trust, over the short-term, of the United States.

In this interview of Former Ambassador to the U.N., John Bolton, he makes no bones about in his words the outrage over this further efforts to damage good international relations with the USA and other countries, which includes IMHO THIS MOST RECENT DOCUMENT DUMPING ONLINE.

Also the founder of Wikileaks site is to be charge under the “USA Espionage Act” and today, there was a hacking of the Wikileaks site. A “patriotic hacktivist” is coming forward with the claim that he took the Wikileaks site down. From the ABC news website:”A computer hacker is claiming he temporarily disabled the Wikileaks site Sunday afternoon, right as the latest dump of leaked State Department memos were scheduled to publish on the site.

The site was down temporarily on Sunday, the same time the hacker began tweeting he had begun attacking it.

“www.wikileaks.org – TANGO DOWN – for attempting to endanger the lives of our troops, ‘other assets’ & foreign relations,” he tweeted late Sunday morning.

“Tango down” is a special forces military term for having eliminated a terrorist.

He goes by the Twitter handle “th3j35t3r”, which is leetspeak for “The Jester.”

On his website, th3j35t3r calls himself a “hacktivist for good.” A “hacktivist” — a hacker-activist, supposedly hacks for a good cause. His cause is preventing young people from being recruited online by jihadists. He does this by hacking jihadist websites, and temporarily disabling them.

“PS for me personally WL is a sideshow target, I am more interested in the big jihad recruiting and training sites,” he said Sunday in a direct message to ABC News via Twitter, referring to hacking the Wikileaks website.”

Also it has been discovered very recent that Wikileaks has been using Amazon servers:”WikiLeaks, the website that published a quarter-million sensitive diplomatic cables on Sunday, is using Amazon.com Inc. servers in the U.S. to help deliver its information. It sounds like an odd choice, but it could make sense.

The site cablegate.wikileaks.org, which WikiLeaks is using for the diplomatic documents, is linked to servers run by Amazon Web Services in Seattle, as well as to French company Octopuce. Wikileaks.org, the site’s front page, links back to Amazon servers in the U.S. and in Ireland. Several Internet watchers, including technologist Alex Norcliffe, reported earlier on WikiLeaks’ use of Amazon services.

Amazon and WikiLeaks did not return requests for comment.”

Towards the end of the article, about the person who had taken down the Wikileaks site”A self-described “hacktivist” known as “th3j35t3r” — or the Jester — claimed responsibility for the attack and wrote on Twitter that WikiLeaks was “threatening the lives of our troops and ‘other assets,’” Andy Greenberg at Forbes reported. Later, the Jester tweeted that the attack was not made from many computers but was a “simple” denial of service hit. On the Jester’s blog, the hacker claims to be “obstructing the lines of communication for terrorists, sympathizers, fixers, facilitators, oppressive regimes and other general bad guys.”

What has been going on in the last few days, it is a reminder that in the age of the internet, very sensitive information in regards to both diplomacy and military actions can be compromised. What is needed right now is an updating of the laws in regards to espionage related actions to meet the high-tech changes of both international diplomacy, as well as war and peace.
