It Was A Wild Ride

It was a wild ride for the St. Louis Cardinals to go from being lifeless back at the end of August to becoming Major League World Series winners.

From St. Louis Today website:”ST. LOUIS • Those searching for omens found one early. The first words uttered within the Citizens Bank Ballpark following Roy Halladay’s first pitch of the postseason to the Cardinals’ Rafael Furcal confirmed something was afoot.

An indelible number in Cardinals lore received a companion Friday night at Busch Stadium when a team that thought itself listless, even underachieving, in late August completed one of the most remarkable reversals in the game’s history by defeating the Texas Rangers 6-2 in Game 7 of the World Series.”

From a team that calls the “show me state” home has shown it CAN win the World Series in Major League Baseball. 

To the Texas Rangers who have to go through another winter wondering what could have been, I say, that may you take from this second trip to the World Series the comfort that you can do it, and that there is still HOPE for you that you CAN win it all come next season, 2012.

Once again, congrats to the Cardinals for pulling off what was thought to have been an “impossible dream.”

Telling It Just Like It Is (Rep. Paul Ryan)

Give United States House of Representatives Paul Ryan, (R/W), for speaking out and telling things just like it is in regards to President Barack Hussein Obama and the economy.

Rep. Paul gave one of his best speeches in his time in public office. This one about President Obama dividing the United States of America is one no-holes-barred speech. It does remind me of the great speeches by the late great President Ronald Reagan.

“Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) is mighty disappointed with President Obama. The chairman of the House Budget Committee, who has bested Obama in head-to-head policy showdowns, blames the president for failing to outline a solution to the debt crisis while dividing America with talk of class warfare.

Ryan’s speech at Heritage yesterday made news for its strong critique of Obama. He sat down for an interview afterward to outline why he’s so disheartened by Obama. Ryan also redefined how Americans should look at class warfare, taking aim at crony capitalism and the politically connected who drive American further into debt.

Despite the monumental challenges facing America, Ryan said he remains an optimist. He’s hopeful the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction will include some of the House-passed budget reforms in its final report.

A World Series Stunner

What thought to have been an opportunity for the American League baseball team Texas Rangers to go on to win their very first World Series turned out to be now a stunning National League baseball team St. Louis Cardinals STUNNER  forcing a game 7 tonight in the World Series based on a David Freese’s home run.

From the AP:”ST. LOUIS (AP) — Hours after David Freese’s home run plunked down on the grass patch beyond the center field wall, long after the ballpark emptied, a message still burned bright on the scoreboard: “See you TOMORROW NIGHT for Game 7 of the World Series!”

Whatever happens, whether the St. Louis Cardinals or Texas Rangers win, they’ll have a hard time topping Thursday night.

“You had to be here to believe it,” St. Louis manager Tony La Russa said.

In one of the greatest thrillers in baseball history, the Cardinals twice rallied when they were down to their last strike of the season. First, Freese saved them with a two-run triple in the ninth, then Lance Berkman delivered a tying single in the 10th.”

I wish I had watched it, even though I had no dog in this fight, it is sure fun to see major league baseball at its very best. Best wishes to the two teams for tonight’s deciding game number 7. Tonight I will watch this game to see what will happen.

Response To A Reader On Oakland Rioting

“People have been peacefully assembled, something that is protected by this little thing called THE BILL OF RIGHTS as well as the Constitution. The cops in no way have the right to attack civilians.”

The above comments is from a reader’s going by the name of  ”J’s”  comment on my blog entry on the city of Oakland, CA, USA and I had to “censor” out one sentence because of the use of foul language. Since I want to keep this blog clean, I will not accept foul language and besides it shows a lack of critical thinking on the part of the reader.

From what I have gathered so far, it was the protesters themselves who were told to disperse, in other words, to leave by the police because the city had both arrested and evicted early Tuesday morning.
