Patience With New Translation Expected To Pay Dividends

“Washington D.C., Nov 29, 2011 / 06:07 am (CNA/EWTN News).- November 27 was a historic Sunday for English-speaking Roman Catholics, who began using a long-awaited and more accurate Mass translation. The change, however, involved its share of awkward moments.

“I think everybody experienced some awkwardness or stumbling,” said Father Daniel Merz, associate director of the U.S. bishops’ Secretariat for Divine Worship, noting a common thread in the reactions he received from across the country.

But those who “had either received some catechesis” in advance, “or had catechized themselves and were prepared for it, seem to have had a fairly positive reaction to the changes,” he told CNA on Nov. 28.

Many priests, he said, were trying to take the learning process “with a good sense of humor,” while encouraging parishioners to deepen their understanding and appreciation of worship through the newly rendered prayers.

“We’re all going to be learning our way and stumbling for a little bit here, and that’s okay,” Fr. Merz said.”

Michael Jackson’s Doctor Sentenced To 4 Years

“LOS ANGELES (AP) — The doctor who was convicted in the overdose death of Michael Jackson was sentenced to the maximum four years in prison Tuesday in a finale to the tormented saga of the King of Pop.

Dr. Conrad Murray sat stoically with his hands crossed as Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor repeatedly chastised him for what he called a “horrific violation of trust” while caring for Jackson.

“Dr. Murray created a set of circumstances and became involved in a cycle of horrible medicine,” the judge said. “The practice of propofol for medicine madness, which violated his sworn obligation, for money, fame prestige and whatever else may have occurred.”

Pastor said one of the most disturbing aspects of Murray’s case was a slurred recording of Jackson recovered from the doctor’s cell phone.

“That tape recording was Dr. Murray’s insurance policy,” Pastor said. “It was designed to record his patient surreptitiously at that patient’s most vulnerable point.”

Occupy Oakland Calls For Shutdown Of ALL West Coast Ports

This is REALY GETTING INSANE, period.

From CNSNews website: “Vandalism, violence, burning and shutting down the nation’s fifth busiest portweren’t enough for Occupy Oakland. On Friday, the General Assembly for the group voted unanimously for “a coordinated shutdown of ports on the entire West Coast on December 12.”

According to a statement from Occupy Oakland, this move is in “response to coordinated attacks on the occupations and attacks on workers across the nation.” “We call on each West Coast occupation to organize a mass mobilization to shut down its local port.”

Occupy Los Angeles had already called for action against one shipper at that port, stating, “occupation will take place at least one facility owned by SSA Marine, a shipping company belonging to Goldman Sachs, (coordinated with a possible port shut down by the port truck drivers).”

Look for things to get REALY UGLY REALY FAST by then.

Yale Bowl Crash Investigation Continues

It makes me wonder WHY do Yale Bowl with Yale University PERMIT the use of U-Haul trucks to be used for tailgating before home college football games in the first place? At least at Rentcheler Field in East Hartford, before the University of Connecticut home football games I remember NEVER EVER seeing any U-Haul trucks for any pre-game tailgating in the first place.
