A Complete Mess Of A Law

As the United States Supreme Court wind down three days of hearings on the healthcare law of President Barack Hussein Obama or Obamacare” I am left to reflect that this whole law was, is, and will always be a complete and total MESS of a law that SHOULD NOT HAD EVER SEEN THE LIGHT OF DAY.

Frankly, I would not be all that surprised if the Supreme Court justices are thinking in the same way too. After arguments both pro and con for this law are all set and done, do not be suprised if the justices are going send their clerks for aspirin just simply to treat their headaches after this hearing gets wrap up today.

“The Supreme Court on Wednesday considered whether the rest of President Obama’s health care law can stand on its own if the justices were to strike down the individual mandate for Americans to purchase insurance, as the justices held their third and final day of oral arguments in the landmark case.

Opponents of the law want the court to overturn it in its entirety, and said there is no way to make the other parts work if the mandate is cut — and they seemed to have a champion in Justice Antonin Scalia, who said the court would be putting itself in the shoes of lawmakers if it tried to decide which parts to leave in and which parts to eliminate.

“Once you cut the guts out of it, who knows which parts were desired and which ones weren’t?” Justice Scalia said.

But other justices seemed more inclined to allow the individual mandate to be severed without killing the rest of the law.

“The question is, is half a loaf better than no loaf?” Justice Elena Kagan said.”

The only one question I have in all of this is, why Justice Elena Kagan even taking part in this hearing, since she was a big factor in being for this law?

Best wishes to the Supremes over the next few months, THEY WILL NEED IT.

This Is Getting Out Of Hand

Of ALL PLACES, the United States of America House of Representatives SHOULD BE THE LAST PLACE that antics like what had taken place this week by United States House of Representatives Bobby Rush of Illinois, (D/IL), by presenting a “performance”  by putting on a “hoodie” in order to break House rules simply leaves in too many Americans a very bad taste in their mouths about politicos, I among them.

The Examiner of Washington goes even into detail:

“Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., lost his right to speak on the House floor after he violated rules by putting on a hoodie and sunglasses in honor of Trayvon Martin, the Florida teen shot last month.

“May God bless Trayvon Martin’s soul, his family and — [inaudible]” Rush said as he was removed from the House floor this morning for wearing a hoodie.

Rush was wearing a grey hoodie under his suit jacket. He took off his jacket, pulled the hood over his head and put on sunglasses while saying “racial profiling has to stop, Mr. Speaker. Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum,” he said.

“The member will suspend,” said a visibly frustrated Rep. Gregg Harper, R-Miss., the speaker pro tempore presiding over the morning session. “The member is no longer recognized. The chair will ask the sergeant-at-arms to enforce the rules on decorum.”

Rush shouted Bible passages over the sound of the gavel as the speaker interrupted him, but he was eventually pulled from the House floor. “The chair will ask the sergeant-at-arms to enforce the rules on decorum,” Harper said.

Rush’s “donning of the hood” violated clause five of House Rule 17 against wearing hats on the House floor.”

I think a little “common sense” is in order here.

Scolded

“While Solicitor General Donald Verrilli Jr. made the Obama administration’s case for the constitutionality of the individual mandate in the health care law Tuesday, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia interrupted and lectured Verrilli about American consumers, saying “These people [are] not stupid.”

Justice Elena Kagan, a former solicitor general appointed by President Obama to the high court, sided with Verrilli in arguing that young people should be required by the federal government to purchase health insurance because others will subsidize their health care in the future.”

Looks like the United States Supreme Court justices were not all that crazy about some of the presentation by the Solicitor General Donald Verrilli Jr. and Justice Scalia was right in “scolding” him.
