Letting Them FUME

Yesterday in his home state, conservative talk radio show host Rush Limbaugh was honored with a bust statue of  him in the Missouri state capital, Jefferson, MO, United States of America.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) - The first day of the last week for the Missouri legislature’s 2012 session was highlighted by armed police guarding the House chamber where a controversial radio talk show host was being honored.

With MANY THANKS To Phil Brooks And Saint Louis, CBS Local. Read More Here:

Behind the locked doors of the chamber that was surrounded by more than one dozen police, Rush Limbaugh watched as his bust for the Capitol’s Hall of Famous Missourians was unveiled on Monday, May 14.

Shortly after the unveiling, however, Gov. Jay Nixon’s administration issued a document raising questions about the House speaker’s authority to handpick whose bust can be placed in the Capitol rotunda.

The unveiling of Limbaugh’s bust was kept secret from all but invited guests until less than an hour before the ceremony.”

GOOD for the MO folks to have kept this special event quiet. Keep the anti-Rush protesters away. Let the Democrats FUME. This is a special day for Rush and to honor his contributions to the radio communications industry.

CHICAGO (CBS)–William Balfour on Friday was found guilty of killing three members of singer Jennifer Hudson’s family in 2008.

The jury’s verdict was announced about 4:40 p.m. Friday. It came shortly after jurors told the court in a note Friday they were “split” on a verdict but would continue “trying” reach one. It was the third day of deliberations for the panel, which had been sequestered for deliberations in the high-profile trial.

Jennifer Hudson was present for the verdict with her fiance. Her eyes filled with tears as Balfour, her former brother-in-law, was convicted.”

Fashion Icon

Another legend who had passed on, and lived up to the famous saying, “do what you love and you will not have to work a day in your life” is hair stylist and fashion legend Vidal Sasson.

“Sassoon died at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by loved ones and his wife of 20 years, Ronnie, his family said in a statement. “He will be greatly missed,” they said.

The British stylist’s scissors spelt the end of the 1950s-era beehive and the bouffant – untouchable hairstyles that owed their existence to lacquer and hair pins – and brought him international fame and fortune.

Sassoon was dubbed a pioneer for coming up with so-called wash and wear looks – liberating many women from weekly salon trips to have their hair done.

But as much as he was a genius in the salon, Sassoon was a whizz in business. He began marketing his name, styles and cutting techniques in a worldwide line of beauty salons, hair-cutting schools and later, related lines of hair products.”

Mr. Sassoon made hair styling an art. Plus he introduced much simpler hair styles since the 1960′s. Also brought an art style to his fashion designs. RIP Vidal Sassoon.

Levon Helm, Key Member Of The Band, Dies At Age Seventy-One: UPDATE

This has been a tough week in regards to the passing of recent greats in the world of music, yesterday it was Dick Clark, today Levon Helm a key member of The Band, dead at the age of 71 from cancer.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — With songs like “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” ”The Weight” and “Up on Cripple Creek,” The Band fused rock, blues, folk and gospel to create a sound that seemed as authentically American as a Mathew Brady photograph or a Mark Twain short story.

In truth, the group had only one American — Levon Helm.

Helm, the drummer and singer who brought an urgent beat and a genuine Arkansas twang to some of The Band’s best-known songs and helped turn a bunch of musicians known mostly as Bob Dylan’s backup group into one of rock’s most legendary acts, has died. He was 71.

Helm, who was found to have throat cancer in 1998, died Thursday afternoon, according to his website. On Tuesday, a message on the site said he was in the final stages of cancer.”

RIP to Levon Helm. Also want to pass on condolences and prayers to both the families of Levon Helm and Dick Clark.
