Christmas Day 2012, for I, after dealing the personal health issues, the heartbreak dealing with the deaths of two men I love very dearly, David my significant other of 21 years and my older only brother Ronald, as well as an aging and ill mother the one message I offer this Christmas 2012 is very clear that relationships with both God and others is very important.
Christmas is not how much you spent on the very best gifts, it is having the very best in relationships. Also in light of what has happened in Newton, Connecticut, United States of America, with the horrible shooting incident over at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, CT, which killed 20 children and 7 adults, life could very well end all of a sudden. It is such that makes this blog entry so very important..
I close with a prayer poem by Robert Louis Stevenson:
“Loving Father,
Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the songs of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate
and open the door of love all over the world.
Let kindness come with every gift
and good desires with every greeting.
Deliver us from evil by the blessing
which Christ brings,
and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning
make us happy to be thy children,
and Christmas evening bring us to our beds
with grateful thoughts,
forgiving and forgiven,
for Jesus’ sake.
Amen.”
A good and blessed Merry Christmas!
Prayers for you. I understand your losses as I lost my oldest daughter and another close relative this past year. Each year 16 of us would gather here for Christmas, but this year we could not bear it with all of our memories and went to another’s home for a change of scene. People always say they ‘understand’ your loss, but no one truly understands until they experience it. Take care!
