Alexander Haig, who was not only a four star general, but also US Secretary of State, but also former head of United Technologies Corporation in Connecticut, died today at the age of 85. He not only was Secretary of State and UTC head, but also served in as a top advisor to three presidents, but also had interest in running for the White House. He was most famous for the statement he made hours after the 1981 assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, which going before the news cameras to, with the original purpose to,to reassure Americans that the White House still functions: “As of now, I am in control here in the White House, pending the return of the vice president,” Haig said.
