I WANT My Money Back! ($3 Million Dollars Worth)

I WANT My Money Back! ($3 Million Dollars Worth)

Early this morning, it has been reported, first by the “Day of New London” and “WTIC AM 1080” sports news reported that Robert G. Burton, of Greenwich, CT, USA, and a printing company magnate, sent a six-page letter to the University of Connecticut Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway, reasons being that there was a number of major disagreements by Mr. Burton of the managing style of Mr. Hathaway.

In other words, a major donor family calls it QUITS.

From the WTIC AM website:”The New London Day reports that Robert G. Burton, a Greenwich printing company  magnate, sent a six-page letter to UConn Athletic Director Jeff Hathaway citing major disagreements with Hathaway and his management style.

Burton upset over the lack of communication from Hathaway during the hiring of football coach Paul Pasqualoni and asked that all remaining scholarship dollars allocated for football be transferred to the business school.

The report goes on to say the Burton demanded his name be taken off the Burton Football Family Complex and that he will no longer be renting a luxury box at Rentschler Field.”

IMHO, from what I have seen and have been hearing, this is NOT VERY GOOD, for both Mr. Hathaway or for the University of Connecticut. While UConn sports WILL ALWAYS GET MY SUPPORT, it takes BIG DONATIONS for this or any college or university to be able to not only function, but be successful in bringing in students WHO DO WANT TO LEARN, professors WHO WANT TO EDUCATE and coaches who WANT TO PRESENT SUCESSFUL ATHLETICS PROGRAMS.

Mr. Hathaway simply has NOT BEEN GETTING IT by how he has not show a “positive managing style” and creating a stumbling block for coaches such a former UConn head football coach Randy Edsall in being able to stay. Plus when this also means not only the lost of a big sum of money, name honor placement, empty luxury boxes, etc., then there is issues in the front office that MUST BE addressed.

With MANY THANKS to WTIC AM website. Read More Here:\”Report: Major UConn Donor Wants $3 Million Returned\”
